Needs Statement

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition of the brain that makes it hard for children to control their behavior.  It is one of the most common chronic conditions of childhood.  All children have behavioral problems at times.  Children with ADHD have frequent, severe problems that interfere with their ability to normal lives.  In this presentation the learner will gain knowledge about a variety of tratments of ADHD.  It will also provide the physican with information to give to the parents in order to better help treat the child in all areas of their life.

  • Develop a course into an action plan for participants to screen for ADHD in their patients
  • Describe the components of a treatment plan for ADHD
  • Identify the pros and cons of using medication in the treatment of ADHD
  • Summarize medications which are effective in the treatment of ADHD
  • Review various behavioral interventions which are effective in the treatment of ADHD
  • Discuss effective and efficient methods for talking to parents and professionals about pediatric patients with ADHD
