Needs Statement

Lean management is increasingly popular in healthcare, but there is a shortage of information applying lean management to primary care clinics. Through this training, primary care providers can expect to improve patient flow and increase their capacity to see patients.

There is a general gap in Lean involving leadership in that they don't understand or perform their role - without leadership, Lean will not work.

Target Audience

Primary care providers

Objectives

Upon completion of the activity, you will be able to:

1. Discuss the customer first philosophy of Toyota and Lean Management;

2. Apply Lean techniques to reduce patient deaths, reduce patient wait time, reduce turnaround time for lab and x-rays, and increase revenue;

3. Define the critical steps necessary to employ Lean techniques in the primary care setting;

4. Change practice culture and develop servant leadership.
