Needs Statement
Each issue of the International Journal of Advances in Rheumatology will present carefully constructed, leading (review) articles, written by practicing rheumatologists and developed to equip readers with practical knowledge of the area under discussion. These articles are commissioned to support particular educational themes identified by the Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Advisory Board and readers. This issue of the International Journal of Advances in Rheumatology presents three such leading articles.Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of rheumatologists and other clinicians involved in the management of patients with rheumatic diseases.Objectives
1. Discuss the natural disease course of undifferentiated arthritis;2. Discuss the recently constructed model that estimates the likelihood of progression to RA in individual patients with undifferentiated arthritis;
3. Discuss the biological responses associated with stress;
4. Discuss the relative merits of psychopharmacological intervention and self-management;
5. Discuss the gut–joint enteropathy seen in Crohn’s disease and spondyloarthropathy;
6. Discuss the central role of TNF-α in Crohn’s disease and spondyloarthropathy.
